Nurturing the Spirit

In nurturing our spirits, we learn and develop the basic building blocks of what it means to be a Christian.  We learn these things in Sunday School, in Bible Studies, Small Groups, and Fellowship Groups.  It is an ongoing process.  We learn as students and we mature as teachers and doers.  Together we support each other and walk with each other side-by-side on this journey.

Sunday School

From its very beginnings, the Oakland Church was a Sunday School.  Although taught at all age groups, Sunday School has particularly been the foundation for introducing Christ to children in the community.  Even if their parents did not attend church, they saw benefit in the church teaching their children Christian values.  As the children grew, so to did their understanding of what it meant to be Christian.

Bible Studies, Fellowships,
and Small Groups

Spiritual formation continues outside of Sunday worship and Sunday School.  We continue to grow together through mid-week Bible Studies, Prayer Groups, Fellowship activities, and Retreats.
